TERMINAL POKER - €400 DEPOSIT BONUS

BACKGROUND
Terminal Poker is a relatively new company to world of mobile poker. In fact, they are like very few in the form of there software only being available via a smartphone or tablet device. The company were actually one of the first to enter the mobile poker market and whilst the initial interest was definitely there for the company – more so out of curiosity than anything – now larger, more established poker rooms have become embellished in mobile poker, how they stack up against these companies will be interesting to say the least.
It’s tough when going into a review with a poker room like Terminal Poker to take into account exactly what they have achieved up to now. Whilst granted these are still a very young company within the poker industry, no poker room will have the amount of time behind them within mobile poker that Terminal Poker do. On the flip side, they almost certainly won’t have the resources that say a PokerStars will have and we are going into this review with that in mind and a very open attitude as to what to expect from Terminal Poker.

FEATURES
Once into the app, we believe that first impressions are everything, but unfortunately the first impressions of Terminal Poker aren’t the best. It looks very dated and you can tell that the app has been put together on a budget. Even after it’s been within the marketplace for some time now, there seems to have been little progress in terms of aesthetics of the lobby and menu section at least. On the flip side to the poor graphics, is that it does load and run really smoothly. The limited graphics obviously have a positive effect on this section of the app.
Before you actually get into the poker section of the app you are greeted with an accounts section that also provides quick links to their sports and casino sections. Having this sort of integration is pretty rare but we think that having everything in the same place really adds to the depth of the app. Being able to do all your banking on the app is another positive and there are also sections to view terms and conditions, privacy policy and welcome information as well.
Once into the dedicated poker area you will have the choice of 5 options that include cash games, tournaments, hand history, options and rules. Let’s start with the cash game section. Here you will be able to choose between both Texas Holdem and Pot Limit Omaha games all of which are 5 seater tables. It’s worth noting at this point that all of Terminal Poker’s games are their version of speed poker and this includes their tournaments. The limits range from 2c/5c games up to €0.50/€1 tables. What’s good about this section is that you can see how many players are in that pool before you sit down.
The next section is their tournaments list and interestingly enough they are one of very few apps that actually use this for real multi table tournaments and not just sit and go games. You can choose between scheduled, buy-in tournaments, freerolls, games that are running and also ones that are finished. Each will give you an overview of the game type, buy in amount, how many players there are currently and also start time. A breakdown of each tournament can be found by clicking on each to see additional information including maximum number of players, starting stack, levels and pay-out tables.
We think we are correct in saying that Terminal Poker offers the only in-app hand history section on the market currently. It’s such a great feature to be able to go back and review each hand in a format that will be familiar to most poker players. It provides all you need to re-run the hand and see if you made any mistakes or where you could possibly change your play.

TABLES
After the aesthetics of the opening few screens on the Terminal Poker app, we weren’t expecting too much from the tables to be honest. But they aren’t actually too bad. They feel very 2005 in terms of design from the online poker industry back then, but in all honesty, run and function pretty well. The colours are great, but everything is pretty crisp and sharp.
One thing that is missing from the tables section is a slider or anything really to edit bet amounts. All you are left with is 4 chips to press a certain number of times to get to the amount you want. This isn’t really acceptable to be honest and there needs to be more so you can edit how much you want to bet. It’s also very fiddly at best, making misclicks extremely easy.

PROMOTIONS & OFFERS
New users to Terminal Poker can enjoy a welcome bonus of up to $400 on their first deposit. The bonus is a 200% match from your deposit amount ranging from $10 to $200; obviously more can be deposited at any one time but this is the maximum amount needed to claim the whole bonus. You get a fairly generous 90 days to clear the bonus and it will be released into your account in increments of $5 after the following day.
It is worth pointing out that whilst they’d offer a 90 clearing period, claiming the whole bonus will be relatively tough even for players at higher stakes with a good volume. You basically generate 1 point for every 2c paid in rake and you need to earn 1,000 bonus points to clear just $5 of your bonus. You would need to generate $20 of rake to claim each $5 reward which equates to a cash back deal of 25%.

OUR VERDICT
You have to commend Terminal Poker for being one of the first companies to set up a mobile exclusive poker room. It’s a market that hadn’t been tapped and they can say they were one of the pioneers to mobile poker. But unfortunately they have been left behind – by some distance – and their rivals are now bigger and better than the now dated poker app they promote.
There are good points in the app such as the tournaments on offer and the hand history tool. But there is just too much missing, especially at the tables and the lack of being able to input specific numbers when betting pretty much sealed its fate for us. A good app a few years ago maybe, but there are way better choices available these days!
