GUIDE TO THE BEST iPAD/iPHONE POKER BONUSES
One of the biggest reasons someone might sign up with a certain mobile poker app is to earn one of the massive bonuses that are on offer. These can range anywhere between a couple of hundred dollars, well into the thousands and even tens of thousands. The headline of ‘Get $1,000 free today’ is often one that is extremely appealing, yet slightly miss leading. Throughout this article we will be looking at putting a few of the myths of iPad poker bonuses to bed and also looking at which ones are the fastest to clear.
BONUSES ARE AVAILABLE ON MOBILE DEVICES
A common misconception that many poker players have is that they don’t realise that the poker rooms ‘stock’ welcome bonus or deposit bonus is actually available when you register a new account on your mobile. Even though you are playing through your iPad and not via the desktop version, your account is still the same as anyone else’s and will allow you to claim (and clear) exactly the same bonus.
If you are still unsure, and we would recommend this for any query you may still have, then get in touch with the poker rooms customer support and ask them directly. Whilst we have compiled several articles like this, it’s likely we won’t have covered everyone’s queries, so don’t be afraid to get in touch. |
REDEEM REQUIREMENTS
One of the areas in which you will need to be aware of is how easy it is to actually start clearing your bonus. Typically you will get a bonus of say $500 and from there you will be asked to clear your bonus. This is generally done by earning points or rake whilst playing at the tables. The more hands you play, the quicker these will rack up. Also, the higher limits you play, the quicker again these will rack up.
Each poker rooms bonus will likely work very differently to another. What you need to find out is how many points you earn for each dollar (or currency equivalent) of rake you pay. From there you will need to look at how many points it takes to clear your bonus.
Let’s look at an example:
You deposit $500 into a poker room via your iPad which have a 100% deposit match on your opening deposit. This means you will get a bonus of $500 of which you will need to clear. The poker room requires you to earn 10 points for every $1 of your bonus. This means that you will need to earn 5,000 points (10 points x $500) to clear your bonus.

TIME SCALE
An important factor to consider is how long you get to clear your bonus. This is something that will vary massively between poker rooms but is crucial to working out whether that poker bonus will fit your needs. You will generally get between 30 and 90 days to clear your bonus, but there are exceptions to the rule that will allow longer and even some less.
This becomes important as what will happen is that after the allotted timescale for the bonus has expired, your remaining bonus amount will also then expire. You will need to work out what sort of stakes you will be playing and also what sort of volume you are going to be putting in before choosing your bonus deal. Someone who plays high stakes or a large number of hands is going to clear the full amount of the bonuses within the allotted time scale. It’s the smaller stakes or lower volume players that really need to do the math to see if the full bonus amount can be achieved. |
INCREMENTS
The way in which you earn your bonuses will again likely vary between each poker room. The standard is that it will be delivered to your account in increments as and when you reach the clearing requirements for that amount. These increments will be either a fixed number (e.g. $10) or a percentage of your bonus (e.g. a $200 released at 5% increments will be $10 a time).
Increments are generally beneficial for two reasons. The first being that money is constantly being drip feed into your account as you are playing. The second is that with many poker rooms giving you a limited time in which to clear your bonus some players won’t be able to clear it within this timescale. Receiving your bonus in increments as you play means that even if you don’t complete it you will still have got something out of the bonus, whereas if it just paid in a lump sum at the end of the bonus and you fall short of time, you’d get nothing.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER
It’s always best to not exceed your means when looking for a bonus and to be realistic about what you can clear. If you are a low stakes SNG player then chasing a large bonus amount on a site with little to no SNG traffic will be pointless as you won’t be able to get enough games. On the flip side, if you are someone who plays a large number of hands look to get the larger matched percentages the likelihood will be that you are able to clear the larger bonuses on offer, thus getting maximum value.

Bet365 and Ladbrokes will give you the highest amount to earn from their bonuses with $1,000 and $1,250 on offer respectively. If you are a high roller or someone who plays a large volume of hands then we would recommend going for either of these two just for size alone.
The lower bankrolled players or even players who aren’t playing a large number of hands should be looking at Party Poker. Whilst you only get a $50 max bonus, their clearing rate is pretty low and you also get a very generous 120 days in which to clear your bonus; ideal for the majority of recreational players.
