INTRODUCTION
Switch Poker is one of the latest in an ever-increasing list of mobile poker rooms. They were originally designed to tap into the mobile sector that had been struggling to really ignite in the poker industry. However, since then, they have integrated their software to be playable from your computers browser, meaning that it is accessible from any device when on the go. It’s completely a browser only poker room and whilst the concept is no longer state of the art, it will be interesting to see how a small, young company can fair up against some of the bigger names in the online poker industry.
APP FEATURES
It’s important not to forget with Switch Poker is that they were designed in order to function within a wide number of mobile browsers. They don’t include a ton of fancy graphics as a result and to be honest, it’s about as basic as you are going to find. The first impressions of the app are very underwhelming and the grey/black colour shame is less than attractive.
After logging in you are literally entering the lobby section of the app and from here you choose between either play money or real money games. The games start from 1c/2c and work up to €10/€20, providing a really nice range of stakes. The table will also signify which games are currently running and allow you to table select, should that be something you are interested in.
The tables will range between 6 max and heads up, again providing a nice mix. The number of players at any level above the micros is really poor though and even at peak times we found that a lot of the mid and higher stakes games just never got going. The few times tables did start they would quickly disband, making it a frustrating process.

TABLE MODE & COMPETITION
You’re greeted with a pretty tidy looking table in all honesty and it’s easily clear as to where you are sat and also the opponents at the table. For each decision you will be greeted with the standard calls to action and the speed of the games is actually quite impressive, making hands per hour one of the better rates we have come across.
The tables really do tend to carry on the same theme as the rest of the app in that it’s very basic. What you see is pretty much what you get and the lack of features, whilst noticeable, never really becomes a massive issue, although the inclusion of a four-coloured deck is something we would like to see in the future.
Probably the best feature that Switch Poker has going for is that you can actually play up to four tables at any one time. The left hand side of the screen will include an overview of your tables and show you exactly what’s going on with each table. You can simply click on that table when it’s your turn to act and then head over to the table with the most action to follow the play. To be honest, this inclusion knocked us for six a little as the rest of the app is so basic and then they include a feature that we are sure a ton of the bigger poker apps would love to include. Maybe it’s the fact that the app is so simplistic in other areas, which allows this feature to be possible? Either way, if you are looking to multi table then it’s easily worth a try.

DOWNLOAD & OFFERS
Essentially, you don’t need to download and app to play on Switch Poker as it’s a browser based platform. All you need to do is go to SwitchPoker and click on of the ‘Play Now’ button on their home screen. This will take you into the lobby section where you can play straight away. But, we found that playing with the browser based around the table a little off putting, so if you click on the share button whilst in the lobby from your iPad (Box with arrow pointing up) and click on ‘Add to home screen’ the iPad will create an app format for this game which means when you click it, it loads up without the browser around it. VERDICT
As you’ll have grasped by now, the Switch Poker app is very simplistic. It includes all the basics that you need to get going to play mobile poker and no more. Whilst this isn’t necessarily a negative, it’s not really something that going to set the world alight.
You see, Switch first came onto the scene as a bit of an innovator in that they offered mobile poker where a ton of bigger poker rooms had failed. They went out and showed that it could be done, and to be honest they are owed a lot for doing this. However, it’s got to the point where the other poker companies are starting to really provide some nice mobile poker options. A lot have them have flown past Switch Poker in terms of features and they are simply getting overpowered these days.
Are they worth trying out? Well, possibly, but only if you’re a multi table junkie to be honest. And, that will depend on if you can get enough players to join you, otherwise there are likely bigger and better things in the mobile industry at the minute, unfortunately for Switch!
